We're glad you've chosen to give us a look and we hope to welcome you into our wonderful group.
Feeling confused or overwhelmed?
This guide should hopefully answer any questions you might have and help you get the basics down.
➤ First and foremost- READ THE RULES. Please, please, please, read them! This will make this whole experience better for everyone.
➤After you've read the rules, you can register with us! First, you will make an OOC (out of character account) with whatever name you want to be called. For example, you can use the name you use in the chat box. This will be your primary account, used for OTM votes, certain awards, and other ooc things. When you make your first character (and then possibly others, you will link them to this account as sub-accounts.)
➤ When you register you character, sign up with your character's First and Last name.
Please do this in appropriate way of: [First Name] [ SPACE] [Last Name] .
Any member who signs up incorrectly has One Week to request a
name in the correct format before they are deleted from the system.
➤ After your account is made, you can begin making your application. All of
the Application process stuff will be in the forum JOINING, and it will hold your "How-To" and other sign-ups.
➤ After you have posted your applications and you are done with your sign-
ups, you are ready to jump into Twin Brooks!
➤ If you have any questions feel free to ask for help in our help forum.
We hope you enjoy the site and all that we have here. Hopefully we can all have fun and be friends. Thank you!

↠SITE RATINGThis site has a 3-3-3 rating. That means there will be highly detailed sex, violence and gore, and adult language. This rating requires members to be over 18. Any member found under that age will be removed from the site.
Threads containing sensitive content must have [NSFW] in the title so people can avoid it if they so choose.
We do not allow characters under the age of 18 to have graphic sex. Any character under that age having sexual posts must do a "Fade to Black," or "FtB." The minimum age of "FtB" posts is 16. If the characters are younger, they should not be doing any sexual acts on the site because, let's be honest, that is just gross for adults to write and fantasize about.
All we ask is that players stay away from one-liners and be courteous enough to give other players enough to reply to. Otherwise, we do not have a word count.
Every three months we do an activity check. Characters that don't get checked through will go into the archives. Archived characters will be available to be retrieved up to Six Months after archival.
We ask every one to be respectful to other players and staff. If something comes up, instead of fighting, please contact an admin. We know some people are going to argue and disagree, but this way we can avoid having serious arguments. If you have a problem with something on the site, or with another player please PM an admin.
↠A MATTER OF TENSE
Here at WLB we work in third person, past tense. So instead of I, ME, WE, or YOU, we use HE, SHE, THEY. We write in past tense, so you should use past tense verbs, so end them in "-ed" if so required.
We don't have a limit for how many characters you can have, we just ask that you keep them active. You will start with a single character, but slots for more characters become available to you after every 100 in-character posts. Why do we only allow one character to start off with? Well, we want you to get used to the site first by just dipping your toes in before you dive head first into something and potentially get overwhelmed.
We require that face claims be a real person, so an actor, celebrity, model, or musician. We also permit the use of YouTubers and other Internet stars if they have over 6 million subscribers. A face can only be used once (with the exception of identical twins), so if the face you want is already in use you'll have to find another one. Sorry.
↠HTML & GIFS
We all love to make our threads stand out, but sometimes it can be a bit much.
When it comes to actual RP threads, we ask that you do not add gifs or do thread templates that make the post hard to read or too compact. We have a few HTML's that are used in social media threads that are fine, but we ask that you don't use too many throughout the site (mainly in the full on RP areas).
Gifs and stuff are welcome in OOC areas, and if you want gifs your mini profile and signature may have them.
Signatures can be about 400x300. But a suggested design is this:
400x200 - for a large main sig, and an area 400 x 100 for buttons or other stuff.
When setting your avatar for any of your profiles, we as that the PNG format not be used, as it messes up some of the designs within our site. Anywhere else on the site is fine, just not in the avatar please.
↠NO POST ORDER
What this means is if three people are in a thread and one has to go for a few days, instead of the post freezing, the other two characters can continue to post until the other person returns.
↠MARK YOUR NSFW POSTS
At the bottom of your reply there are bbc codes to add things to your post tags, among them is the NSFW tag. Use this tag if your threads takes a violent or steamy turn.
↠MAKE REALISTIC CHARACTERS
Don't create a character that is perfect and good at everything. If they are super strong and never get hurt, then that is unrealistic. Yes, this is a fantasy site with mythical beings as characters, but we do want to go for some realism here. Characters have flaws and vices. Don't make a Mary Sue character that is just going to make us all want to gag.
Do not confuse player knowledge with character knowledge. Just because you as a player know something about a situation or another character, that doesn't mean your character knows it. As a rule of thumb, your character shouldn't really know something about another character unless that character states it or if it is something visible about them.
Another aspect of Godmodding is creating a character that avoids all danger or succeeds in every situation they're in. One, that's just not interesting, and two, it's not realistic. You don't always succeed at everything you do, so your characters shouldn't either.
The last bit of Godmodding we're going to be talking about here is taking control of another player's character. As you are not in control of another person's character you can't make them act a certain way. Say your character says something mean to another, you can't immediately say the other person's character begins to cry. That's Godmodding. It's up to the player what their character does. Hell, they may have wanted their character to punch yours in the face, not cry. Don't try to control another person's character.
↠FORTUNE FAVORS THE BOLD
We allow characters to be subject to their own actions, with or without speaking up about it with another player. What this means is character (A) has given multiple warnings via IC posts about wanting to harm or kill the other character (B), and character (B) continues to egg the other on. Character (A) has right to fulfill his warnings and try and hurt or kill Character (B). (WE PREFER YOU TALK THIS OUT BEFORE HAND, BUT SOMETIMES IT HAPPENS).
The warnings should very easy to give and to find and should be given at least three times before violent action is taken. For example, if Character (A) has said threatening things several times, including but not limited to; "I will kill you...", "I'm going to hurt you...", or " I will fight you..." It's safe to say they are serious and will in fact do so or at least try. This is limited to verbal cues, as we previously mentioned, your characters aren't privy to the thoughts of another. So if a character says something aggressive or acts aggressively in a visible manner toward your character, consider that the warning, not the other character's intense monologue of personal struggle.
Players are welcome and encouraged to ask an admin on a ruling about this if a situation arises that you are unsure about.
(The idea for this comes from the lovely people over at What Lies We Breathe.)
*If you have read this send an admin "I have read the rules"
to let us know you have. *
If you have any questions about our Rules feel free to ask an admin to explain
at any time.
